Who Supports Our Work
The research agenda of the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston is supported through funding opportunities and partnerships with private foundations, government agencies, quasi-governmental entities, and major corporations.
The support of our funders allows the LTSS Center to pursue high-quality applied research that brings together our interdisciplinary team of researchers, providers of aging services, and policy makers at the federal, state, and local levels. We work closely with these partners to translate our research findings into policy and practice. In the process, we strive to ensure that older Americans receive the services and supports they need to age well.
Our affiliation with LeadingAge’s national network of more than 5,300 nonprofit providers of aging services allows our research team to apply its study findings to a variety of real-world residential and care settings. Our researchers work closely with senior housing communities, nursing homes, assisted living communities, home and community-based services providers, and other aging services organizations.
We help these providers implement evidence-based practices in a variety of settings. We then evaluate the effectiveness of these innovative approaches, and disseminate our findings widely so successful programs can be replicated in other communities.
We believe strongly that applied research can have a powerful impact on the nation’s ability to improve the daily lives of older Americans.
That’s why we work hard to make sure our research findings inform public discussions about long-term services and supports, and help various stakeholders develop and advocate for public policies that promise to yield positive outcomes for older Americans.
