The LTSS Center received $830,000 in new funding awards this year for nine research projects, according to a new report from UMass Boston.
Recent research from the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston, and an interview with Co-Director Marc Cohen and Senior Researcher Jane Tavares, are featured in a new impact report from the UMass Boston Gerontology Institute, which houses the Boston office of the LTSS Center. The center’s Washington office is located at LeadingAge.
“My favorite part of this job is working with my colleagues and students on our applied research projects,” says Cohen in the report.
The impact report, Advancing a More Equitable Society for Growing Older: UMass Boston Gerontology 2022-2023 Impact Report, looks at the work of UMass Boston’s Department of Gerontology and the Gerontology Institute, which includes three centers in addition to the LTSS Center.
The report offers a snapshot of the LTSS Center’s activity during the 2022-2023 academic year, including its support of applied research by 10 graduate students. In addition, according to the report:
- The LTSS center received $830,000 in new funding awards for nine research projects.
- The center’s website received 63,000 unique page views.
- The center’s research newsletter was sent to 16,000 subscribers each month.
The LTSS Center is the first organization of its kind to combine the resources of a major research university with the expertise and experience of applied researchers working with long-term services and supports providers.
“The idea that we can bring knowledge and data to inform improved policymaking that can make a real difference in the lives of older adults is very rewarding,” says Cohen.
