Leadership Advancement in Aging Services

A special Leaders of Color Network event will explore leadership advancement in aging services during the LeadingAge Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Board members, CEOs, and other leaders at LeadingAge member organizations are invited to attend a forum exploring leadership advancement in aging services on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m., during the LeadingAge Annual Meeting in Chicago.

The two-hour event, “Leadership Advancement in Aging Services: Preparing for and Expanding Your Leadership Trajectory,” is sponsored by the LeadingAge Leaders of Color Network.

Deke Cateau, CEO of A.G. Rhodes and a member of the LeadingAge Board of Directors, will moderate the event’s two panel discussions.

 

PANEL 1: RECRUITING SENIOR LEADERS

During the first panel, executive and professional search firm representatives will share the latest senior leadership recruitment trends in the field of aging services.

Panelists will answer questions about how boards and CEOs can prepare their organizations for greater diversity in senior leadership and how those organizations can cultivate diverse leaders by tapping internal and external candidates. Panelists will also offer advice that leaders of color can use to position themselves for senior leadership positions.

Panelists will include:

  • Elizabeth Feltner, CEO of Deffet Group, Ostrander, OH.
  • Lisa Brown Alexander, SPHR, president and CEO of Nonprofit HR, Washington, DC.
  • Divina Gamble, managing partner, Washington, DC, and nonprofit practice sector co-leader, Korn Ferry, Washington, DC.

 

PANEL 2: STRATEGIES FOR PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT

The second panel will feature senior leaders of color who will share their professional journeys and strategies for advancement in the field of aging services. Panelists will include:

  • Tina Sandri, CEO, Forest Hills of DC, Washington, DC.
  • Charles Moore, president and CEO, Armour Oaks Senior Living Community, Kansas City, MO.
  • Erica Thrash-Sall, CEO, Horizon House, Seattle, WA.
  • Doug Cope, president, Menorah Housing Foundation, Los Angeles, CA.
