A recent blog by LeadingAge President & CEO Katie Smith Sloan highlights workforce resources curated by the LTSS Center’s Jenna Kellerman.
We must never forget that the aging services workforce is comprised of 4.7 million unique individuals, according to a new blog by LeadingAge President & CEO Katie Smith Sloan.
“As providers of aging services, it’s our job to know these individuals as people, to offer each one of them support that addresses their distinct needs and circumstances, and to do whatever we can to help each one of them achieve their own version of success,” Sloan wrote on July 18. “In short, we must build a strong aging services workforce one person at a time.”
Sloan’s blog highlighted a comprehensive collection of almost 90 resources that LeadingAge has assembled to help providers carry out this “enormous task.”
The resources, curated by Jenna Kellerman, director of workforce strategy & development at the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston, were created “to help you strengthen your workforce by supporting each person who makes up that workforce,” wrote Sloan.
Specifically, the resources are designed to help providers:
- Create a culture of belongingwithin their organizations.
- Apply principles of person-directed care to team members as well as residents.
- Build trust through transparent communication.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Lead like a coach.
- Help each team member develop and implement an Individual Development Plan.
- Establish a peer interviewing process.
- Provide wraparound supports and servicesto every team member who needs this help.
