Free Toolkit Helps Providers Address Ageism and Ableism

The web-based tool is designed to guide organizations and individuals in creating inclusive environments for senior living.

The LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston has been participating in a two-year project to develop a toolkit that senior living providers can use to identify and eradicate ageism and ableism in their organizations. The Age and Ability Inclusion Toolkit for Senior Living is now available online, free of charge.

The web-based toolkit is designed to help senior living communities:

  • Raise awareness of ageism and ableism.
  • Assess their organizational culture and identify changes to promote greater inclusion.
  • Educate, train, and support older adults, team members, and family members to create more inclusive communities and a greater sense of belonging

The toolkit includes resources for individual team members and an organization-wide assessment.
