On February 7 at 2 p.m. ET, the LeadingAge Leaders of Color Network will host a webinar on the importance of allies in developing a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the aging services workplace.
Nzinga “Zing” Shaw, a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) pioneer, will lead an upcoming LeadingAge webinar on what it means to be an ally and how allies can support the career advancement of leaders of color.
“Allies in Action: Creating a Supportive Workplace” takes place on Wednesday, February 7 at 2 p.m. ET. The webinar is sponsored by the LeadingAge Leaders of Color Network. Robyn Stone, senior vice president of research at LeadingAge and co-director of the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston, will serve as moderator.

During her presentation, Shaw will highlight the importance of allies in developing a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the aging services workplace and how allies can help their organizations build diverse leadership teams.
Shaw will discuss:
- What an ally is and how allies can create an inclusive workplace environment.
- How an ally can support a leader of color’s advancement without being controlling.
- Strategies and tools to help you become an effective ally.
- How organizations can support allies.
Shaw is president & CEO of Attack the Glass LLC, founded in 2019 to amplify dimensions of diversity across every facet of the human experience. She is well-known for her pioneering DEI work with the Atlanta Hawks basketball team. She helped launch the team’s MOSAIC symposium, which brings Atlantans together to engage in conversations and develop strategies to enhance the role sports leaders play in advancing inclusion in local communities.
Shaw was the first chief DEI officer at four blue-chip organizations: Edelman, Starbucks, Marsh McLennan, and the National Basketball Association. She has been recognized with numerous “40 Under 40” awards from such publications as Sports Business Journal, Atlanta Business Chronicle, The Network Journal, and PR Week. She is an adjunct professor at Fisk University in Nashville, TN, and serves on the university’s Board of Trustees.
